Meet The Team

John Ahearne Sales & Marketing Recruiter 07817 443033 John@TalentTechRecruitment.com

Career to date – University of Birmingham – Master’s degree, whilst there I worked for Peugeot in the summer holidays. After Uni went travelling and came back to Coventry where I spent 15 years working in sales, engineering and marketing recruitment for a large national recruiter. Co-Founder of TT along with Nick in early 2019.

Recruitment hack / top tip – Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. Always spend time looking into a company and the interviewers, consider 3 questions as part of your prep why you want the role, why you are good for the role and why you want to work for the company you are interviewing with.

Best thing about being part of the TT team – Great people, great work ethic, friendly and inclusive environment where everyone helps each other out.

Interesting fact / something we don’t know – My 2nd cousin is Mike Ahearne – Warrior from the Gladiators 1990’s TV show.

Favourite thing to do outside of work – I love sport, football, rugby, golf, tennis, cricket – either playing or watching.

If you weren’t in recruitment, where would you be – Probably a materials scientist or an engineering salesperson.

Lookalike – Haribo kid.

Nick Goodwin Engineering & Technical Sales Recruiter 07591 982824 Nick@TalentTechRecruitment.com

Recruitment hack / top tip

Employers – Always recruit for attitude and train for skill

Candidates – Invest the time it requires in your CV and the job application process.

Best thing about being part of the TT team – Doing what I enjoy and working with such a great team of positive motivated people.

How would your colleagues describe you – I doubt I could answer that … hopefully hardworking, motivated and a good reliable colleague.

Interesting fact / something we don’t know – I once featured on a Take That DVD, almost drowned at Surfers Paradise thinking I was a surfing legend, the tides are a little different to Cornwall, I want to go on SAS – Who Dares Wins – TV & complete a Half Iron Man. Since losing 9 stone I’ve completed a half marathon, Olympic triathlon and HYROX – World series of Fitness.

Favourite thing to do outside of work – Watch sport, go to the gym & eat – in no particular order.

If you weren’t in recruitment, where would you be – I originally wanted to be an Architect as the inner geek in me is fascinated with buildings and super structures, however now if I had my time again, I’d attempt to see how far I could get on the Royal Marine Basic Training course.

Lookalike – Mmm… not sure, I’m unique.

Nickname – Gooders, Goody or G.

If you had to eat 1 meal for the rest of your life / Last meal – Prawn cocktail, Roast dinner, apple pie and custard.

Most interesting place your visited and where would you like to go – Argentina – what a great place & I’d love to go to South Africa.

Last book you read – It’s not a diet book by James Smith PT.

Favourite TV program – I don’t watch much TV apart from sport, I do watch a lot of You Tube.

Richard Shortland Tech Sales Recruiter 07970 011773 Richard@TalentTechRecruitment.com

Career to date – I worked in internal and field sales within the telecoms space after finishing university before making the move to sales recruitment back in 2007. I have worked in sales for the last 17 years.

Recruitment hack / top tip – There isn’t one. You need to be prepared to graft and apply yourself but the reward can be a very fulfilling career if you are successful.

Best thing about being part of the TT team – The culture. Coming to work, is no longer like coming to work. I am trusted to do my job and left to get on with it. I have been given a lot more responsibility since I started here, and this has helped me to become a better, more rounded recruiter.

How would your colleagues describe you – Hard working, hungry, driven, reliable (I hope).

Favourite thing to do outside of work – Spend time with my two girls and fiancée. Watch the mighty Sky Blues (Coventry City) and play football.

If you weren’t in recruitment, where would you be – If I had my time again probably an architect.

3 wishes –

For my girls to grow up happy and healthy.

To help grow TT and make the company a success.

Become a professional footballer at 40 years of age.

Lyndsey Hulm Sales & Operations Coordinator 01926 505555 Lyndsey@TalentTechRecruitment.com

I’ve previously worked for a large recruitment company for over 17 years, in this time I gained valuable experience and an excellent understanding of the recruitment industry. I’m knowledgeable in sales, marketing and engineering recruitment and supported the business with regards to the training courses we supplied. I’m fortunate to have met many great people and lifelong friends along the way. After being made redundant due to COVID cut backs, I found myself in Education, a sector I was unfamiliar with but enjoyed the new challenge. Fast forward a year I am back in familiar territory – the world of recruitment! I’m delighted to be working at TalentTech, with some old faces and for a company with a great ethos and positive work values is refreshing and exciting, I can’t wait to fully get stuck into my new role here!

Best thing about being part of the Talent Tech team?

Having 6 other people that have my back, that want me to succeed and inspire me to always do my best.

How would your colleagues describe you?

Organised, motivated, step obsessed and Kit Kat lover!

Favourite thing to do outside of work?

I spend weekends on the side-line of a under 12s football pitch, made better when it’s not raining!
Running, circuit training, looking at holidays!

Last thing you watched on TV?

Help – I love anything Stephen Graham stars in.

Callum Bird Technical Recruiter 07833 171285 Callum@TalentTechRecruitment.com

After finishing 6th form with 3 A-levels, I was undecided on whether to continue my studies at University or dive into the working world and gain an “on the job” apprenticeship. I was fortunate to secure a role to work for a local engineering recruitment firm where I have worked for the last 2.5 years, and I’ve completed a Level 2 apprenticeship in Recruitment Consultancy. I’m now looking to further my career and develop my recruitment skills so I’m excited that I’m working at TalentTech as an Executive Recruiter. Having heard great things about their growth & culture I’m pleased to be the magic #8 and I couldn’t be happier to be part of the TalentTech Squad.

Why did you want to come and join the TalentTech team?

I’m keen to continue my skills and development and with the experience in the business I feel I will benefit from the knowledge of the team. I believe that TalentTech will help me develop my career, from meeting the team I can see their drive & motivation and the high standards that they set themselves, I can’t wait to get stuck in.

Top recruitment hack/ tip

Always get to know your audience. When & how to ask the right questions… but also, importantly to know when to listen.

What motivates you to work hard?

I’m ambitious, so the thought of developing my career to the highest level I can, inspires me.

How would your colleagues describe you?

Sociable, with a fun personality who is motivated & determined.

Favourite thing to do outside of work?

I love football, boxing and go to the gym regularly.

Lookalike

If you could eat one more meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

It’s got to be Nando’s: Peri salted chips, butterfly chicken, garlic bread and garlic peri-naise.

Isaac Bateman Sales Recruiter 01926 505555 Isaac@TalentTechRecruitment.com

Career to date

During college, I worked as a waiter for a large hospitality chain, after completing my A levels I accepted an unconditional offer at Coventry University, two years in I decided I wanted to undertake a placement in recruitment – 9 months later I’m here! For extra money over the summer months, I did some scaffolding, it gave me a wage but was also the toughest job to do in record heatwave temperatures of 38 degrees!

Best thing about being part of the TT team

The work culture and atmosphere around the office. It’s a relaxed, welcoming environment and a great place to learn and progress.

Favourite thing to do outside of work

I enjoy going to the gym and playing/watching football (massive Chelsea fan), this doesn’t always go down well with other housemates who have had to accept that the TV is out of use on weekends / most weekday evenings!

I love going out for food/drinks and I’ve recently just got back from Sundown Festival and a holiday in Tuscany – Italy, so I feel lucky to have had a brilliant summer before I get stuck into my new role at TalentTech.

3 Wishes

Chelsea winning a premier league soon and seeing it from an executive box!

And, to have no regrets.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

It would be a roast dinner, but with everything perfectly cooked. Crispy potatoes, multiple trays of Yorkshires, any meat will do but ideally a good cut of beef.
